This famous company was formed in 1931 as a result of a merger between Gramophone Company Ltd and Columbia Graphophone Company Ltd. The same year, Sir Edward Elgar opened the new EMI Studios at Abbey Road.

In 1952, EMI launched its first 33 RPM record.

In 1955, the company buys US based Capitol Records.

In 1962, the Beatles sign with the Parlaphone division of EMI and release “Love Me Do.”
