    Close Up of Vignette

The Connecting Railway was incorporated January 1, 1902, under the general laws of Pennsylvania, for the purpose of acquiring and consolidating the property, rights and franchises of some other, more obscure Philadelphia trolley companies: the Connecting Railway Company, the Philadelphia, Germantown and Chestnut Hill Railroad Company, the Kensington and Tacony Railroad Company, the Busleton Railroad Company, the Fair Hill Railroad Company, the Engleside Railroad Company, and the Philadelphia, Bustleton and Trenton Railroad Company. Pursuant to the above-mentioned purpose, the Connecting Railway acquired at its organization the property, rights, and franchises of the seven corporations named. The Connecting Railway, itself, and those corporations, together with their predecessors, total 12 different corporations, and comprise the line of corporate succession culminating in the Connecting Railway as it was constituted during the time this certificate was issued.
