American Bemberg was a subsidiary of J. P. Bemberg, which was the German affiliate of Vereinigte Glanzstoff Fabriken. The company operated a rayon plant in Elizabethtown, Tennessee, which later became part of the North American Rayon Corporation. Originally, the primary use for the company’s rayon output was for the production of parachutes.
