Broadway-Hale Stores, Inc.
Hale Brothers merged with Broadway Department Stores to form Broadway-Hale Stores Inc. The company, later known as Carter Hawley Hale Stores, owned the Emporium, Weinstock's and The Broadway. There was also a smaller group of Texas based stores that were part of this consolidation – Nieman Marcus! Stanley Marcus soon thereafter became a top ranking executive of the company. This certificate contains the machine signature of Edward W. Carter as Chairman of the Board. Mr. Carter was a president of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, a director of the San Francisco Opera Company, and the Southern California Symphony Association.
