Dominion Stores Limited was originally incorporated in 1919 and operated as an independent grocery store for some 65 years before the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (commonly known as the A&P food store chain) purchased all 92 Dominion Stores in 1985. These stores still operate under the Dominion name today.
