Wyandotte Worsted Company
The Wyandotte Worsted Company was incorporated in Maine in 1909, with operations in Waterville. As with many of the other New England mills, the company fell upon hard times and moved its operation to South Carolina. The south held a competitive advantage for textile firms because of the then-cheaper labor pool, and attracted many northern companies.
