From the oilfield to the burner under a frying pan, Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line can move the gas. The company operates more than 10,000 miles of interstate pipeline that can transport 5.3 billion cu. ft. of natural gas a day to markets in the Midwest and Great Lakes regions of the US. It also provides terminalling and regasification services through nearly 50 compressor stations and five gas storage fields capable of holding 72 billion cu. ft. of natural gas. It also has liquefied natural gas (LNG) assets. In 2003 CMS Energy sold the company to Southern Union for $584 million. Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line, founded in 1929, operates as part of Southern Union's Panhandle Energy unit.
