Associates Investment Company
The roots of this company date back to South Bend, Indiana, when in 1916 E.M. Morris built the foundations of the company, then known as Associates First Capital Corporation, on car and real-estate loans in the midwest U.S.

”The Associates,” as the company would later be known, was later listed on the Chicago Stock Exchange (1926) and the New York Stock Exchange (1937).

In 1968, the company was acquired by Gulf+Western Industries, Inc. , an entertainment, publishing and manufacturing conglomerate, founded in 1956. On November 30, 2000, the company was acquired by Citigroup.
