Tenneco was a corporation headquartered in Houston, Texas. In 1968, the company merged with the Newport News Shipbuilding Company (which was later sold off the Northrup Grumman). In 1987, Tenneco purchased Sperry. Marine and spun the operations off to NNS. These operations were also sold off (in 1993) to JF Lehman. Tenneco also had divisions that concentrated on natural gas pipelines, oil and gas exploration, automotive parts, and insurance.
