Incorporated in Colorado in 1892, with offices in Denver, the Gold Valley Placer Mining Company had operations in Pitkin, Boulder (Fourmile) and Moffat counties.

Fourmile Canyon runs from near the mouth of Boulder Canyon up to the abandoned mining community of Wall Street, Colorado. It was host to the first narrow-gauge railroad to connect Union Pacific's standard-gauge network to the mines and mountain communities near Ward, and was the entryway to the Switzerland Trail tourist route that wound through the mountains between Nederland and Ward. The Fourmile narrow gauge track was active from about the 1860s through the early 1900s.CO-Colorado Mining and Related Mining-Colorado Gold Mining Mining Scene Government Seal Featured State Seal Featured Colorado State Seal Body Adornments
