The Anderson County Oil and Mineral Company was incorporated in Texas, with offices in Palestine. Thirty local businessmen established the company with $5,000 of capital.

The company sunk wells in land they purchased for cash about 11 miles outside of Palestine. The same land had been tried by Davey & Company a couple of years earlier.
