    Close Up of Vignette

The Dreyfus Corporation, established in 1951 and headquartered in New York City, is one of the nation's leading mutual fund companies, currently managing more than $190 billion in more than 200 mutual fund portfolios nationwide. Dreyfus is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Mellon Financial Corporation, a global financial services company.

This very rare specimen piece features a vignette showing the famous Dreyfus lion. Remember the full grown lion emerging from a New York city subway in the mid 1960s? That was Major, the Dreyfus Lion, symbol of the Dignity, Power and Confidence of the Dreyfus Fund. The lion idea was created by Jack Dreyfus, Chairman of Dreyfus.
