In 1880 when the Wabash lines were built from Strawn, IL, northward to Chicago, an arrangement with the Chicago and Western Indiana Railroad Company provided the Wabash with entrance trackage and terminal facilities in the city itself. This arrangement involved joint ownership of the CWIRR.
