This line was a predecessor to the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway Company (which was formed in 1869). The Lake Shore and Michigan Southern was formed via a consolidation of The Michigan Southern and Northern Indiana Railroad Company (a line from Chicago to Toledo), The Lake Shore Railway Company (a line from Toledo to Erie), and The Buffalo and Erie Railroad Company (a line from Erie to Buffalo).
