This company was originally chartered in 1865 as the Allentown Passenger Railway. The name was changed to the Allentown & Lehigh Valley Traction Company in 1893. In 1899, the company became the Lehigh Valley Traction Company before becoming the Lehigh Valley Transit Company in 1905. Streetcar were discontinued in 1953, and the company discontinued all service in 1972.
